Trainers provide accountability and discipline. A good trainer will also make sure that you don't damage your body when exercising.
It is important to note that there is a right way, and a wrong way, to exercise. Don't risk harming your body.

Just because a woman or man looks "great!" doesn't mean they have the knowledge to train another able body.
A personal trainer SHOULD be educated in the physiology of the human body and be certified by an accredited association. For personal trainers, ACE, ACSM, and NSCA are the top 3 in the field. If you are performing yoga, pilates, zumba, or other cardiovascular class then these instructors should also be certified.
In addition to being in the fashion world, I am also an Exercise Physiologist and Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist with a Master's degree in both fields and an Undergraduate degree in Sports Medicine.
I was a Certified Personal Trainer for over 10 years, was a kickboxing instructor not only for local gyms, but for a university soccer team, an ROTC cadet class, for the U.S. ARMY, and trained with Billy Blanks of Tae-Bo fame for 3 years.
The biggest misconception I have seen in gyms is clients hiring personal trainers because they believe that trainer can assist them in looking the way the trainer does. Many times that specific trainer has been blessed with the genetic disposition for their look.
No matter where you go for training and nutrition your first question should be,
"What are your credentials in this field?" If they try to simply state their experience with no educational background then simply move on. I have seen too many clients of other "Personal Trainers" get hurt or do crazy exercises to find down the road it lead them to an overuse injury.
Unfortunately TOO MANY gyms hire staff and trainers simply from the way they look or if they are good salespersons! CRAZY!
Nutrition is another place people fall victim of an uneducated trainer.
If ANY person tells you to cut any food group completely out of your diet, this is a
HUGE RED flag!
As humans, or an athlete, as a MACHINE, your body NEEDS all major food groups!
There are no QUICK fixes and it won't be easy! If it were then everybody would be in top form 24/7! Even for those who have the knowledge it can be tough!
Injuries occur, schedules get crazy! If you fall off the train one day it's OK! Just get back on it the next!
